The local guide to Southern Utah.
What’s Happening Southern Utah (WHSU) is a curated local guide for St. George, Washington County, and the Zion gateway. We pull together what’s actually worth your time this week: concerts and festivals, new restaurant openings, family-friendly spots, local deals, hiking conditions, and the developments reshaping the corridor. Instead of scrolling six Facebook groups and a half-dozen event calendars, you get one place built around real local context.
We’re built for the people who live here, the visitors planning a weekend in Zion or Snow Canyon, and the relocators trying to figure out which neighborhood, which schools, and which restaurants will feel like home. Every listing on the site is tied to a real venue, a real date, and — wherever possible — a real note from someone who has been there. We blend automated data feeds from partner organizations (Greater Zion, Utah Tech, City of St. George, Tuacahn, Black Desert, and more) with editorial picks from our own team, including the family-focused desk we run with @stgeorge_kids.
WHSU is independently built and operated by Macrae Heppler Enterprises, a Southern Utah-based small team. We’re not a chamber of commerce, a tourism bureau, or a national publisher parachuting in — we live here, our kids go to school here, and we’re building the resource we wished existed when we moved. If you have a tip, a correction, an event we missed, or a business you’d like to see featured, we’d love to hear from you.
